A Terrible Debut
After watching the first episode of Aftermath, I was left in shock at how terrible of a start it was. The first episode comes across as a complete mess. It seemed like it wanted to be all things to all people. There were so many threats that it was impossible to believe anyone had a snowball's chance in hell of making it. The tone of the episode was confusing as it seemed to want to be a drama, a comedy, serious and light-hearted all at the same time. The characters seemed to show no believable emotions when they actually bother to express some. Events happen at random. People appear and disappear with no logic. The acting comes across as terrible, which with a cast of this quality shouldn't happen. Anne Heche really came across as slumming here. The series did get better later on, but not anywhere near enough to save it. This pilot made Sharknado 4 look like Game of Thrones and Manimal look like The Walking Dead. It was doomed from this misbegotten pilot. I give Episode 1 a rating of 2 out of 10.
