Story:
Two brothers, Gordon and John, who haven't gotten along for several years are forced to come together as their father has vanished, leaving them to go through his old video store business. There they find a VHS board game called Beyond The Gates. It turns out that this game can actually open a door to another realm. Magic exists there. The woman who controls the game tells them to find four key to rescue their father. They must find them. The girlfriend of one brother will be threatened. There are other threats, such as the presence of demonic zombies. Will they manage to beat a game that no one else has?

A Charming Tribute

Beyond The Gates is a great tribute to the horror and fantasy films of the 1980s. It also is an affectionate tribute to the VHS era and the now vanished heyday of video stores. The acting is excellent. The characters are all likeable. The plot is pretty straightforward. But it still manages to work some complexity in their as well. The make-up is great as well. The blood and gore is quite good as well. Beyond The Gates in an immensely entertaining movie. I give Beyond The Gates a rating of 8 out of 10.
