Would Someone Please Turn On The Lights?
Shinsengumi of the Dead seems like it would be a pretty entertaining zombie movie as it does appear to have a decent budget. It's actually cool to see a zombie movie set in Japan's past. The acting is quite good. The make-up is impressive. There's some great action scenes in here. Of course, without subtitles, following the story isn't very easy. But the biggest issue I had with this movie was teh hideously awful lighting in here. This film was dark, and I'm not talking about the mood. The lack of adequate lighting made it almost impossible to see. And I made sure to watch it at a time where there would be no glare from the sun. And it was still almost impossible to see. Unless I had a bad DVD copy, the lighting in Samurai of the Dead is truly awful and really needed to be much better. Seriously, a film of this quality should have decent lighting. Still, I give Samurai of the Dead a rating of 6 out of 10 for the parts that I could see . . .
